Explore, discover and learn at Stone Mountain Park’s Homeschool Day on September 27. Homeschool students will enjoy a day full of educational opportunities, adventure, and play. Special Homeschool Day Adventure Pass Includes access to Homeschool Day educational events, plus all-day access to Stone Mountain Park attractions and Pumpkin Festival activities.* The ticket plaza opens at 9:30 a.m. so you may redeem your tickets in advance of the programming. The park opens at 10:30 a.m. $17 (plus tax) per person Buy Now *On the date of your visit, Ride The Ducks may be added to your Adventure Pass for only $9 (plus tax). Special educational programs include: Train Talk Q&A 10:30 a.m. – Railroad Depot What weighs 350 tons and can move around the mountain at 15 mph? We'll bring you up to speed with cool facts about Stone Mountain Park's Scenic Railroad. Learn about the Lasershow 12 p.m. – 4-D Theater What goes faster than 670 million miles per hour and is as big as a mountain? Find out the magic and science behind the world’s longest running Lasershow Spectacular. Summit Skyride Fun Facts 1 p.m. – Summit Skyride Do you know how high above sea level the Skyride gondola travels and at what speed? Discover the inner workings of Stone Mountain Park’s famous lift to the top of the mountain. Learn about Antebellum Life, Georgia's Colonial History, and the Civil War in Georgia 1 – 4 p.m. – Antebellum Plantation & Farmyard Learn about Antebellum life and more with interactive demonstrations. Plus, stroll through 100 years of Georgia history with one of the largest collections of 18th & 19th century buildings and artifacts. Be sure to visit the Farmyard where kids can pet and interact with friendly sheep, goats, and pigs. The Quarry, Learn to be a Quarryman 1:30 – 3 p.m. – Quarry Exhibit (located just past the Grist Mill) Your students will go on a scavenger hunt and learn about the quarry. They will also learn hands-on how to use the same tools that Stone Mountain quarrymen used on site with educators! Archaeobus 10:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. – Expo Area (behind the 4-D Theater) Learn how much fun archaeology can be with Georgia’s mobile archaeology classroom, Abby the ArchaeoBus! Your students will learn how to preserve, study and interpret Georgia’s human past with hands-on exhibits and puzzles. Charlie Elliott Chapter of the Atlanta Astronomy Club 10:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. – Expo Area (behind the 4-D Theater) Come talk with astronomers and learn where you are in the universe and how small we really are! See how cool the sun really looks when you view it through a Solarscope! (**Viewing of the sun is weather contingent**) Discovering Stone Mountain Museum 10:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. – Discovering Stone Mountain Museum at Memorial Hall This museum features 12,000 years of Stone Mountain History with many artifacts and stories. Ride The Ducks Educational Video 10:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. – Discovering Stone Mountain Museum at Memorial Hall Learn all about one of the most innovative transport vehicles in military history as Rosie the Riveter introduces you to the amphibious DUKW vehicle and how they operated. Video runs continuously throughout the day in the small theater of Discovering Stone Mountain Museum. Ride The Ducks 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. This lively amphibious tour culminates with a big splash into Stone Mountain Lake. Add on to your Adventure Pass for only $9 + tax.
