One Upon a Time

Event for Homeschoolers:

This spring the Johnson Ferry Baptist Homeschool Support Group will sponsor our 4th community event. We are proud and excited to host the Atlanta Opera once again! The program will be called Once Upon A Time at the Opera. It is targeted to ages 4 - 5th grade. The program is approximately 50 minutes long and then will have a short question/answer session at the end.

Thursday March 20th, 10 am
Main Sanctuary, Johnson Ferry Baptist Church

The performance is designed to introduce young audiences of both boys and girls to the opera experience.

Although they will be concentrating mostly on the singing, they will also help the students
understand:
-how to go to an opera
-what they should look for or perhaps listen for
-how to enjoy the opera when you do not know the language
-an introduction to the vocabulary used in the opera and where it came from
-how an opera gets to be an opera
-production of an opera: lighting, music, set design, and costuming

It will feature opera music from the following composers: Handel, Mozart, Rossini, Bizet, Verdi and Bernstein
