Georgia Archives Week

Governor Sonny Perdue will sign a proclamation designating October 7-15, 2006 as "Georgia Archives Week." The signing will take place Thursday, October 12th at 11:00 AM at the Capitol building.

The theme of this year's celebration is "Faces of Georgia." Events will draw attention to the vital role of archives and archivists across the state and the variety of historical records, including photographs and other primary source materials, available for research. Presentations, exhibits and performances will be given around the state to bring awareness to Georgia Archives Week. Participating organizations include the Tubman African American Museum, the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library and Museum, the Roswell Historical Society, the Delta Air Transport Heritage Museum and the Coca-Cola Company. Topics range from the faces of Columbus to faces of the White House. Some area attractions, are offering discounted admission for attendees.
