Relaxed Homeschooling Workshop

Mary Hood will be teaching a "Relaxed Homeschooling Workshop" in Gainesville on Friday March 17 and Saturday, March 18 at the First Church of the Nazarene, located at 1301 Otila Dr. NW (just off Dawsonville Hwy./Hwy 53 E) Gainesville, Ga. 30501 [For specific directions, please use www.mapquest.com]

Friday evening will be a workshop for teens and parents from 6-8pm . Mary encourages teens to attend the Friday night workshop with their parents. It focuses on the high school years and preparing for and entering college. The emphasis is on dealing with people as individuals, even at the high school level.

Saturday will be open to all from 9am until 3pm (with 1-1/2 hour lunch). The Saturday workshop will cover such topics as working with various age groups, setting goals, keeping "relaxed records", how to help children learn to read, write, and do math, etc. The Saturday workshop mainly deals with children from preschool through middle school. Mary will be available to answer questions during the lunch hour.

Mary is not an "unschooler", but believes that families should act like families, rather than turn into schools, and helps people understand what that means on a practical level.
