Georgia Science Olympiad
The Georgia Science Olympiad, part of a national academic competition, is accepting home school teams in its middle and high school divisions. Teams of up to 15 students compete at regional tournaments at nearby college or university campuses where the top teams progress to the State and national tournaments. Science Olympiad covers all fields of science as well as some engineering and technical communications skills. All events involve two students working as a team. Most events are "hands-on" and some require building devices prior to the tournament. College admissions officers are cognizent of S.O. and medaling at state or national tournaments is a recognized accomplishment. Additional information, including a section on home school teams, is available at http://www.aug.edu/gaso/ or contact Dr. Bill Wellnitz at wwellnit@aug.edu. In addition, home school coach Pam Greene (pamjgreene@yahoo.com) has offered to field questions from home school groups. |
